Antique Bow Fronted chests are very desirable due to the level of craftsmanship required to create such a design and we have great pleasure to offer these unusual pieces of antique furniture for sale. The Antique Bow Fronted Chest of Drawers was first introduced in the late 18th Century Georgian period usually small with a brushing slide. This continued throughout the Regency era in Neoclassical designs and Victorian periods in Mahogany timbers but in Larger sizes with lots of drawer space. The shape of this particular chest is a bow or curved shape at the front. This was quite a skill for the cabinet maker to complete as it was not as simple as the straight front chest. Adding shapes to the construction becomes much more difficult and therefore it would have been made by a very skilled craftsman of the period. The best examples have decorative features like turned reeded columns down the sides and the original brass handles. The earlier 19th Century antique bow fronted chests will stand elegantly on shaped bracket feet, wheres the slightly later, will stand on turned bun feet. The bow front antique chest can be a fine addition to your bedroom or living room, as they are quite spectacular so can act as a focal point in your room. We deal in genuine original pieces that has been well looked after and cared for during its lifetime and oozes a sense of quality.
