The Antique Bow Fronted Chest of Drawers was first introduced in the Georgian period usually with a brushing slide, this continued throughout the Regency and Victorian periods usually in Mahogany timbers. The shape of this particular chest is a bow or curved shape at the front. This was quite a skill for the cabinet maker to complete as it was not as simple as the straight front chest, as when you add shapes the construction becomes much more difficult and therefore it would have been made by a very skilled craftsman of the period. The best examples have decorative features like turned reeded columns down the sides and the original brass handles. The earlier examples will sit on bracket feet, wheres the slightly later, will stand on turned bun feet. The bow front antique chest can be a fine addition to your bedroom or living room, as they have lots of stage and also are quite stunning to look at, so can act as a focal point in your room.
