Fiddes Black Polish is shellac based French polish used to create a high gloss black, ebonised finish on wood. This exceptional polish will produce an unbeatable black shine to your wooden furniture, enhancing its overall aesthetic while ensuring durability. It is used in antique restoration to touch-up and repair Chinoiserie and black lacquered furniture. It is also the ideal solution to repair and polish Victorian ebonised furniture.
Directions
Ensure the wood is clean, bare, dry and free from any old finishes. The grain can be filled with a grain filler and the wood can be stained before application if necessary. Apply several thin coats of black polish with a French polishing brush or French polishing rubber (if using a rubber, no oil should be used with this product). lightly de-nib between coats if necessary. The more coats you apply, the better sheen you will create. Finish with a quality wax for further protection.
