Antique desk chairs can come in many different forms from the carver design to the later swivel chair. They were first seen in the Georgian period in the form of a single carver arm chair, used to sit at a large partners desk. During the Victorian period, comfort was taken into consideration when designing them, so more padding was used, sometimes with buttoned backs and upholstered seats. The Edwardian period produced designs that could swivel and tilt, these are the most sought after today as they can fit quite nicely with most desks and can be adjusted to various heights so set to be bespoke to the person sat at them. Not only can they be used at a desk, they also make really nice occasional chairs that can be used when you have additional guests in your home or office. Here at Antiques world we do get some stunning examples for sale and you can see our current selection here on our chairs page.
