Antique desk chairs (office chairs) can come in many different forms from the carver design to the later swivel chair. They were first seen in the 18th Century Georgian period in the form of a single carver arm chair, used to sit at a large pedestal or partners desk and built in Cuban Mahogany. During the 19th Century Victorian period, comfort was taken into consideration when designing them, so more padding was used sometimes with buttoned backs and upholstered seats. The Edwardian period produced designs that could swivel and tilt on their original mechanism, usually in solid Oak Timbers. Antique desk chairs in this design is the most sought after today. They can be adjusted to various heights, bespoke to the person sat at them, making them very comfortable indeed. This type of antique seating can also make a really nice occasional chair that can be used when you have additional guests in your home or office. They are of super quality, an ideal purchase for the purist antique collector or the modern interior designer with a penchant for the currently in vogue, eclectic look. Here at Antiques world we do get some stunning examples for sale and you can see our current selection here on our chairs page or look below at a few examples we have on offer.
