Quality Walnut Victorian Antique Writing Desk by Gillows
This quality late 19th-century walnut Victorian antique writing desk, by the renowned Gillows of Lancaster, dates to around 1890 and is designed in the Arts and Crafts style.
The desk features a beautifully tooled leather writing surface, enclosed within a moulded top. Below are two frieze drawers fitted with decorative brass handles, with a generous kneehole providing comfortable seating. It stands on elegant turned supports with attractive out-swept legs, creating a refined yet sturdy design.
This exceptional antique desk has wonderful genuine charm and character. The walnut has mellowed to a warm, rich tone with a striking grain and an excellent patina. It is in very good condition and has been professionally cleaned and finished using a traditional wax polish, enhancing its natural beauty while preserving its period character.
