Outstanding Large Victorian Mahogany Desk
This Outstanding late 19th century Large Victorian Mahogany Desk / Pedestal desk dates from ca. 1900 and is almost certainly by Maple & Co. It has a large moulded top with tooled leather writing insert and two pull out extension slides, one on either side. This sits above a long central drawer over large knee-hole and each pedestal has four graduating drawers with original brass handles and inlaid edges. This quality desk stands on a plain plinth and has a central back panel. It splits into three sections for removal and has wonderful charm and character. The mahogany has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of furniture wax finishing.
