Outstanding Large Inlaid Victorian Mahogany Desk
This Outstanding 19th century Large Antique Inlaid Victorian Mahogany Desk / Pedestal desk dates from ca. 1870 and is stamped by J.W.Hetherington of Lancaster (recorded as an apprentice of Gillows of Lancaster). This antique Victorian desk has a serpentine shaped top with fine inlaid edge above a central drawer over kneehole. Each pedestal has four graduating Oak lined drawers with decorative brass swan neck handles and inlaid edges. This quality desk stands on shaped bracket feet and the mahogany has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of furniture wax finishing.
