18th Century Oak Country House Antique Secretaire Cupboard
This Stunning 18th Century Georgian Oak Country House Antique Secretaire Cupboard / Bookcase dates from ca. 1780. It has a moulded cornice with dental moulding above two cupboard doors, each cross-banded in Mahogany with raised fielded panels, key with working lock and spectacular inlays. The interior has three adjustable shelves. Below is a deep double secretaire drawer that folds down with the original brass mechanism and the interior has several fitted drawers, pigeon holes and a blue baize writing surface. It has three working drawers below with cock-beaded edges, mahogany cross banding and oval brass handles. This stunning antique Georgian cupboard stands on shaped bracket feet, splits into two section for removal, has wonderful genuine charm and character, the Oak has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of Oak wax polish finishing.
