The Antique Centre Table is a circular or rectangular table designed to be in a grand hallway with fine inlay decoration and beautifully built. It was one of the first items of furniture you would see when you entered a home, so they were built to impress often with a lovely bunch of flowers displayed on top. Antique Centre Tables were most popular in the Victorian period built in stunning figured timbers from Rosewood to fine golden, Burr Walnut often with brass inlay or even a marble top and would have been a very expensive part of the furniture collection. These antique tables, would either be sat on a centre pedestal or on fine turned legs and usually with castors, so could be easily moved when cleaning around them. In today’s house, they are mainly used as a side table or writing table as they are really pretty pieces to look at but also quite practical having a large surface to place anything from a lamp to photos of loved ones on top.  Have a look below at our lovely examples available for sale.
