His two sons followed in his footsteps to continue creating fine quality furniture along with working at hotels, churches to large ocean liners that were being built on the Tyne. After Robert’s death the sons opened a large factory where over 200 people were employed. I just acquired a wall mirror with the emblem of Robson and Sons. It’s says Heirloom also. Also says New castle of Tyne. I can’t find a picture of it anywhere. I’m trying to find out how old it is and possibly the history of the mirror. I am on the US. The state if Texas. If anyone can give me any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • When did Robson & Son change from carving/branding their name into there furniture to the (what can I call it?) button?

    • Hi
The button seemed to appear towards the end of the 19th Century but I am unsure on the exact date.
      Many thanks

I have two church chairs with history. They belonged to my mothers (and I suppose through that my) forefathers). They belonged to the Wilsons of Newburn/Walbottel. One of their most known sons William Wilson, The driver of the first German Train, The Adler, Designed by Robert Stevenson.

  • Hi James,
I have my parents lovely Robson and Sons sideboard. Unfortunately it is water damaged, is it worth anything or is it now of no real value? I can send pictures. Thanks, Paul.

    • Hi Paul
This will depend on how bad the damage is and if it can be restored. You would be welcome to email images and I can see what you can use to restore this if you like?
      Many thanks
      James
