It is made from high-quality pure shellac, alcohol and additive, creating a smooth finish that is easy to sand. This will help to create a smooth and more even final coat of French polish. By adding a base coat, it will enhance the final finish and can also be used as a base coat after staining. This professional-grade sealer is easy to use and offers outstanding results.
How to Apply Shellac Sanding Sealer
- Before applying the Shellac Sanding Sealer, ensure the wood surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease or debris. Any small imperfections, cracks or chips in the timber can be filled beforehand using our Wax Filler Sticks. Once repairs are complete, sand the wood to a smooth, even surface.
- If required, stain the timber first to achieve the desired colour or shade before applying the sanding sealer.
- Shake the Shellac Sanding Sealer thoroughly before use, as the fine additive may settle at the bottom of the container during storage.
- Apply the sanding sealer in a warm, dry environment using a soft-hair French polishing brush, always brushing in the direction of the wood grain. This helps the sealer penetrate the surface evenly and prepares the timber for finishing.
- If necessary, lightly de-nib the surface between coats with fine abrasive paper, ensuring each coat is allowed to dry fully before applying another layer.
- Once the sanding sealer has been applied and the surface is smooth, finish the wood using Shellac French Polish.
- If a softer satin finish is preferred, the surface can be completed using a Wax Furniture Polish.
