Exceptional Inlaid Victorian Antique Glazed Bookcase by Edwards and Roberts
This Exceptional late 19th Century Inlaid Victorian Antique Glazed Bookcase is by the renowned makers Edwards and Roberts and dates from ca. 1890. It has a moulded cornice above a decorative inlaid frieze and two beautiful astragal glazed doors with key with working lock. The interior has three adjustable shelves. The lower section has a beautifully figured moulded top above two drawers with the original quality brass handles and the two cupboard doors are beautifully inlaid again with key and working lock. The edges have satinwood cross-banding and the sides have stunning floral inlays. This impressive antique bookcase stands on a moulded plinth and the piece splits into two sections for ease of removal. The mahogany has aged to a warm rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
