It is made from very rare Pollard Oak with Brass Campaign style carrying handles,  Brass plaque and the central is engraved ‘Given as a remembrance by H Taite to her brother George’. The interior of the box has a tooled leather writing insert with 2 glass ink bottles, small lid and key with working lock.

Rare 19th Century Pollard Oak Antique Writing Slope

This Rare 19th Century Pollard Oak Antique Writing Slope / Lap Desk is exceptional quality and dates from ca. 1840. It is made from very rare Pollard Oak with Brass Campaign style carrying handles,  Brass plaque and the central is engraved ‘Given as a remembrance by H Taite to her brother George’. The interior of the box has a tooled leather writing insert with 2 glass ink bottles, small lid and key with working lock. It is a unique antique box and has aged to a golden Oak shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
