This Elegant Set of 6 Victorian Walnut Antique Balloon Back Chairs dates from ca. 1860 and have beautifully shaped carved balloon backs with splayed back legs and fine cabriole front legs. This stunning set of antique chairs have moulded edges, have been recently upholstered and have aged to a rich golden Walnut shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of furniture wax finishing.

What are Antique Balloon Back Chairs?
Antique Balloon back chairs were made mainly in the 19th century with lots of Victorian chair makers copying the design but adding their own individual decorations such as floral carvings or different styles of legs. Some would be simple turned legs whilst others would have French influences such as the elaborate cabriole leg. The earlier balloon back chair was built by hand and so are better quality usually with more solid quality timbers used like Mahogany or Rosewood.
