Antique Regency Chairs date between 1811 to 1830 and come with unusual features like Brass lion paw feet, sabre legs, reeding and out-swept legs. These antique chairs were mainly made from Mahogany or Rosewood and as they would have been originally french polished, they retain a fine finish, that we clean and restore using natural beeswax. Most backs are curved, occasionally inlaid with reeded sides and reeded bar back supports. Unusual designs can have a lyre back splat. They can have an H or X framed turned cross stretcher with added back support, meaning they are sturdy and good for everyday use. Regency Dining chairs will usually have two carvers and 6 to 10 standard chairs. They would have been originally upholstered in leather with horsehair stuffing but quite often get upholstered as the seats get worn over time.
