Antique Furniture by the Cabinet Makers S & H Jewell

S & H Jewell

S & H Jewell, were fine quality cabinet makers who were established in 1830. They were a family business who worked from their premises at 29-31 Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London and then later to Parker Street, LONDON. W.C.2. They are recorded to have sold furniture to the Arts and Crafts home, Standen House, East Grinstead, Sussex and stated on the receipt dated 1st May 1894, states the company was founded in 1830 but there are not many records of their earlier pieces. They also restored early pieces of antique and re sold them in their London shop. They were also renowned for restoring and selling older pieces of antique furniture in their shop.

This late 19th Century Mahogany Antique Wellington Chest is stamped by the renowned makers S & H Jewell. It has seven graduating Mahogany lined drawers all with the original brass swan neck handles and are inlaid with Kingwood cross banding along with boxwood and ebony string inlay.

This S & H Jewell glazed display cabinet is of unique small proportions with two astragal glazed doors and glazed sides. The lower section has a beautifully figured top above a mahogany lined drawer with the original brass handles with two beautifully figured cupboard doors and the interior has one fixed shelf. All the edges are beautifully cross banded with rosewood, boxwood and ebony string inlay.

Of Splendid Large Proportions, This Spectacular Quality Victorian Mahogany Antique True Partners Desk circa, 1870 has the retailers stamp S & H Jewell London, and originates from the Imperial College in London. Large Victorian Mahogany Antique True Partners Desk.S & H Jewell label originates from the Imperial College in London.

Constructed by the renowned cabinet makers S & H Jewell London, this quality glazed bookcase dates from around 1910. It has a decorative moulded top above two astragal glazed doors and stands on elegant ball and claw feet.

This Edwardian Mahogany Antique Nest of Four Tables by S&H Jewell of London consists of four small occasional tables that neatly slot together when not in use. Each divine top has a moulded edge above elegantly turned supports and splayed feet.
