Spectacular Inlaid Astragal Glazed Victorian Antique Bookcase
This spectacular inlaid astragal glazed bookcase dates from around 1900 and has a beautifully figured top above an elegantly inlaid frieze with satinwood cross banding, boxwood and ebony string inlay. The two cupboard doors are once again inlaid, have astragal glazing and key with working lock and the interior comprises of two adjustable shelves all with the original velvet lining. This striking piece stands on shaped bracket feet and has been adapted to this unique, useable size. The mahogany has aged to a warm rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
