Small George II Antique Mahogany Bureau
Dating from ca. 1760 this unusual George II Antique Mahogany Bureau has delightfully small proportions and an unusual drawer configuration. It has a moulded fall front with beautiful cross banded edges and brass key escutcheon. The interior is fitted with small oak drawers, pigeon holes and a central inlaid door. The lower section has one long over two smaller drawers, then two longer drawers, all oak lined, cock beaded and have decorative thistle embossed brass handles. The drawer fronts are finished with beautiful inlaid cross banding. The bureau stands on Ogee bracket feet, shows signs of old repairs and character which in no way detract from its overall beauty it just adds to the charm of this antique piece. It has aged to a warm mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
