This Quality 19th Century Miniature Antique Wellington Chest / Collectors Specimen Chest is labelled by James Gardner by appointment to her Late Majesty the Queen, 52 High Holborn and 292 Oxford Street, corner of Davies Street, London. Animal, Bird & Fish Preserver and Hoof Mounter. The largest collection in the kingdom of bird, skins, eggs and insects. Manufacturer of entomological apparatus and cabinets. Artificial human eyes, also for birds and animals.
It is an interesting chest in an unusual design being a wellington chest made from Mahogany and dating from ca. 1850. It has six small drawers that are locked using the hinged locking arm with a key and working lock. This beautiful small antique chest stands on a plain plinth, comes with wonderful charm, character and has aged to a warm Mahogany shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
