  • Our Cambridge countryside Cottage,
We have a grade two listed building and it is a lovely cottage in the country side. We have lived here and have been renovating the cottage for over four years and we do feel rather lucky as it is so different to where we have lived in the past. We have always lived in the centre or a town so now instead of the busyness of the town centre we have miles of beautiful countryside, it is definitely a lot quieter. Planning the look and layout of the cottage was quite difficult as when you are renovating a property lots and lots of different ideas run through your head but once we had chosen the layout and finished renovating then came the best part, choosing the furniture. We decided the best furniture to have was antique furniture as it will fit in perfectly with a 300 year old cottage. I love the way some antique furniture has character and looks used with warn edges and little imperfections as this fits perfectly in our cottage with our uneven walls and big old beams. It is all the character and quirky combination of the cottage and antique furniture put together that gives me the perfect look for my home. We decided to search the net to see what pieces of antique furniture we could find and we stumbled across driscolls antiques website, We purchased many different pieces from Driscolls antiques (in fact we have now nearly fully furnished our home with their antiques) and I am really pleased with how my home now looks and all the pieces purchased were perfect. We especially like our antique partners desk as it really suits my husband’s needs. Its delightful and the imperfections of the cottage and the oldness of the antique furniture makes this the perfect home for me. Saying this I would not look to renovate another old property as the amount of work involved was a lot worse than I thought so it is a good job I like where I live.
