Georgian Mahogany Antique Linen Press of Small Proportions
Dating from around 1800 in the Georgian period this lovely antique mahogany linen press has relatively small proportions. The moulded cornice displays a decorative banded edge and sits above a deep frieze over two cupboard doors which are beautifully figured, have moulded edges, a brass clash mould and key with working lock. The interior of the top section contains four sliding linen trays. The lower section has two graduating drawers with cock beading and period oval brass handles. With unusual but very desirable small proportions this delightful piece stands on splayed bracket feet and splits into two sections for ease of removal. The mahogany has aged to a warm medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
